How to prepare and grow Organic Dill microgreens from seed

  • Do not soak dill seeds, just thoroughly rinse and drain the seeds.
  • Sprinkle the rinsed seeds over a tray of compost and press down gently.
  • It is advisable to use a micro biologically tested compost such as Klasmann Peat Free Seed Compost to ensure there is no ecoli present.
  • There is no need to cover the dill seeds – keep them moist by gently misting them with water.  Do not over water.
  • Keep in a light place out of direct sunlight.
  • Keep the compost moist (but not soaking) and you should see signs of germination and growth after a few days. 20-30 days 'till harvest.

Using Dill sprouts or microgreens in the kitchen

Dill microgreens can be harvested at seed leaf stage for the most intense flavour or a little later at true leaf stage for their feathery appearance.

Will add a fantastic bright (fennel, celery, anise, warm) fresh taste to salads and sandwiches – say goodbye to boring egg sandwiches if you put some Dill sprouts on them! Dill microgreens work very well with fish dishes – is a good idea to add some of the dill to any salad you are serving with fish, particularly a potato one.  Dill microgreens have lovely feathery leaves which are very decorative and have a soft mouth feel making them perfect for topping any fish or egg dish and raising it from the boring to the exciting. Dill microgreens work very well with Quinoa.
