Chives
Chives (Allium schoenoprasum) are a perennial herb with a gentle allium flavour. They are commonly used for garnishing or in salads, sandwiches, potato dishes and omelettes. Their pretty purple flowers are decorative in the garden and also edible. Each packet contains approximately 1600 organic seeds. More details below.
Organic Chives (Allium schoenoprasum) Seeds
Growing schedule: Sow seeds in pots in March or April for planting out from April to May. Sow direct outside from May until early July. Clumps can be divided every few years.
Sowing depth: 2 - 2.5cm
Planting distance: 30 x 25cm
Growing conditions: Chives do well in full sun to partial shade in fertile, moist, free-draining soil.
Harvest: Wait until the plants are well established before harvesting. Snip chives with scissors instead of chopping them.
Number of seeds: Each packet contains approximately 1600 organic seeds.
