Organic 'Berner Rose' Tomato Seeds
Sowing schedule: Sow seeds inside in mid-Feb to early April using a propagator, heating mat or lidded seed tray on a sunny windowsill. Plant under cover in late April or May.
Sowing depth: 3-6mm
Germination: Tomato seeds germinate best at a temperature of 20-24°C. A heated propagator is the ideal place to start off tomatoes early in the year.
Planting distance: 40 x 75cm
Growing conditions: Tomatoes need full sun and rich, moist, well-draining soil.
Ongoing care: ‘Berner Rose' tomatoes grow tall and need to be supported with either canes or string. Pick off side-shoots as they emerge and remove any yellowing branches below the lowest truss of fruits. Once the first fruit has set, feed plants every week or two with a liquid feed high in potassium such as Vinasse Tomato and Plant Food.
