Organic 'Briweri' Butterhead Lettuce Seeds

Growing schedule: Sow in seed trays from January for growing on indoors; or sow from March to mid-July for outdoor cultivation. Sow 'Briweri' from mid to late August and plant out under cover in September for early winter salad leaves or an early crop the following year.

Sowing depth: Cover with only a thin layer of soil as lettuce seeds need light to germinate.

Planting distance: Space plants 25 x 25 cm apart in a greenhouse or polytunnel; in open ground ca. 30 x 30 cm.

Germination: Ideal germination temperature is 10-15 °C, max. 18 °C.

Growing conditions: Lettuce doesn’t do well in high temperatures – it enjoys full sun, but may benefit from partial shade in the hotter months of the year. It grows best in moist, well-draining soil.

Harvest: For ‘cut-and-come-again’ salad leaves, pick the outer leaves and the plant will continue to grow from the centre.

Number of seeds: Each packet contains approximately 100 organic seeds, enough for 80 plants.
