Corn 'Cinema'
'Cinema' is a popcorn variety of maize. It has a high starch content and so its glassy kernels pop very well when heated; perfect for any home movie night. Each pack contains 12.5g of organic seeds. More details below.
Organic 'Cinema' Popcorn Seeds
Growing schedule: Sow under cover in pots from April to May for transplanting from mid-May, after risk of frost has passed. Popping corn is slow to mature so it needs an early start.
Sowing depth: 3-4 cm
Germination: Corn ideally germinates between 18 and 21°C in 7 - 9 days.
Planting distance: 60cm between rows, 20-25cm between plants.
Growing conditions: Maize needs plenty warmth and sunshine to grow well. It can be grown outdoors where conditions allow but in cooler locations, it may need to be grown indoors.
Ongoing care: May need support in windy conditions. Sow in a block rather than a long line to improve pollination and seed setting.
Harvest: Cobs should be ready to harvest from September. Ensure that the kernels have ripened fully before harvesting. Kernels must be completely dry for popping.
Number of seeds: Each pack contains 12.5g, approximately 70 organic seeds.
