Organic 'Sugrano' Sweetcorn Seeds

Growing schedule: Sow under cover in pots from April for planting out under cover from May. Sow under cover in pots from May for planting outside in early June. Sow direct outside from mid-May to early June, once soils have warmed up.

Sowing depth: 2.5 - 5cm

Germination: Sweetcorn will germinate between 18-29°C, with optimal germination above 25°C. Early sowings may need a heat mat or a warm windowsill.

Planting distance: 20 - 25 cm between rows; 60cm between rows. Plant in blocks rather than a line to encourage good pollination between plants.

Growing conditions: Sweetcorn requires warmth, full sun and a nice sheltered position. It will thrive in a polytunnel but can be grown outdoors if the conditions are right. It prefers fertile, moist, well-draining soil. Add plenty of well-rotted manure or compost before planting.

Ongoing care: May need support in windy conditions.

Harvest: 'Sugrano' cobs can be ready to harvest after around 100 days.

Number of seeds: Each packet contains approximately 50 seeds, enough for 40 plants.
