Nettle (Urtica dioica)
Nettles are a vigorous hardy perennial that grow very well in Ireland. While often considered a 'weed' plant, they are also highly valued for their nutritional and medicinal properties. They provide an abundant source of spring greens, used in soups and teas, and their leaves and seeds provide food and habitat for butterflies and birds. Nettle is used in biodynamic preparations. Each pack contains 0.5g organic seed. More details below.
Organic Nettle (Urtica dioica) Seeds
Characteristics:

- Height: up to 1.5m
Growing schedule: Sow indoors from March or direct outdoors from late April to July. Sow in modules or direct where it is to grow.
Sowing depth: 1 cm
Planting distance: 40 x 50cm
Growing conditions: Nettle likes full sun and well-draining soil. It is fairly tolerant of both drought and light frost.
Ongoing care: Cut back dead foliage at the end of the growing season. It will sprout back from the base in the spring.
Number of seeds: Each packet contains 0.5g of organic seed.
