Organic Rapini Seed for Sprouting

With a slightly milder taste than mustard or cress, salad rapini, aka broccoli raab, is much faster growing and can be sown like cress or used as sprouting seeds.

Rapini is often used instead of mustard in the punnets of cress and mustard.

  • Can be sown like Salad Cress or Mustard directly to damp surface in container.
  • For sprouting seeds rinse and empty the seeds into your sprouter if you have one or any tray / container.
  • Set anywhere – in low light and at room temperature (70° is optimal).
  • Rinse and drain every 12 hours for 2-5 days depending on required sprout size.
  • When you rinse try not to disturb the seeds/sprouts. They need to stay where they are – to form a mass that is unmovable.
  • When ready, transfer your sprout crop to a plastic bag or the sealed container of your choice and refrigerator.
  • The sprouts are best fresh, but will store for up to 5 days if dry in a fridge

For Microgreens:

  • Sprinkle the seeds over a tray of compost and press down gently.
  • Cover with a fine layer of compost.
  • It is advisable to use a micro biologically tested compost such as Klasmann Peat Free Seed Compost to ensure there is no ecoli present.
  • Keep the compost moist (but not soaking).
  • Best kept at a steady temperature of about 20oC
  • You should see signs of germination after a couple of days.
  • Cut after about 10-15 days.
