Most Popular Vegetable Seeds

No. 1 - Broad Bean 'Aquadulce'

These have always been a gardeners favourite and took the top spot for 2023. Aquadulce is the best broad bean for autumn sowing, but can also be sown February/March. Produces a high yield of large green beans, roughly 7-9 in each pod.

No. 2 - Scallions / Bunching Onions 'Ischikrona'

As usual these were very popular! They are an excellent variety of fast growing bunching onion derived from Ishikura. Produce long white stems and dark green leaves. They have a fine mild flavour which makes them ideal for salads or stir frys.

No. 3 - Courgette 'Zuboda'

Non-trailing variety is an early and good cropper. Produces slightly marbled, long fruits.

No. 4 - Garden Pea 'Kelvedon Wonder'

An old variety which is still very popular. good fresh taste. Fast growing - usually ready 12 to 16 weeks after sowing

No. 5 - Radish 'Sora'

A firm fleshed, crimson radish with a beautiful, round shape, medium long leaved. Sora remains crisp and tender for a long time even when it grows bigger.

No. 6 - Carrot 'Robila'

‘Robila’ is a very long, slender, stump-rooted carrot with smooth skin and a sweet, nutty flavour. It can be harvested through autumn and stores well once lifted from the ground.

No. 7 - Broccoli 'Purple Sprouting'
A hardy plant that grows slowly through the winter, providing a flurry of delicious tender broccoli shoots in the spring. It is highly nutritious and very easy to grow.

No. 8 - Lettuce Mix 'Mesclun'

This salad leaf mix contains varieties that have been chosen to have comparable growth rates and complementary flavours to provide interesting and tasty babyleaf salads.

No. 9 - Beetroot 'Robuschka'

Vigorous variety with a strong leaf. Round, smooth skinned, very good keeper with very uniformly dark red flesh. Pleasant fruity sweet flavour.

No. 10 - Tomato 'Zuckertraube'

A vigorous, heavy cropping variety of tomato that produces long trusses of relatively large cherry tomatoes. ‘Zuckertraube’ means ‘sugar grape’ in German - and indeed the fruits are particularly sweet!

No. 11 - Brocoli Calabrese 'Natalino'

This dark green broccoli grows rapidly with a long harvesting window. Good dense heads.

No. 12 - Coriander

A classic herb with many uses in the kitchen. Has a a distinctive citrusy taste.

No. 13 - Basil

A classic culinary herb. Often associated with Italian cuisine, it can be used for pesto, sauces or as a fresh aromatic garnish.

No. 14 - Kale 'Nero Di Toscana'

An Italian Kale variety with narrow dark-green slightly crinkled leaves. It has a rich flavour and can be eaten steamed, stir-fried or even massaged with salt.

No. 15 - Courgette ' Gold Rush'

An early courgette with thin skin and crisp flesh producing an abundance of bright yellow fruits. This is a non-training bush variety that is ideal for smaller gardens or pots.

No. 1 - Calendula

Very easy to grow and suits most soils. It has a wonderful, vibrant colour. The flowers are also edible and make a striking addition to salads.

No. 2 - Blue Cornflower

Yields beautiful radiant blue, filled blooms that attract bees. Easy, undemanding summer flower.

Very attractive annual - easy to grow. Will give tall flowers in shades of red, pink and white.

An unusual sunflower with expressive, velvet red-brown colour, an eye catching plant for the cottage garden.

No. 10 - Common Poppy

Classic field poppy with vibrant red flowers. They self-seed readily. The flowers make a lovely addition to a bouquet, while the seed pods work well in dried flower arrangements.
